What is Uttar Pradesh One Time Settlement Scheme 2023?

Uttar Pradesh government implemented the Uttar Pradesh One Time Settlement Scheme 2023 on November 8, 2023. The state has been implementing the One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) annually. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister, pointed out the need to implement OTS. The Power Corporation has launched the OTS program in this case. A number of power users will receive a 50%–100% discount on their monthly bill and charges by enrolling in this program.

The first phase will be more beneficial for consumers. Farmers who register by November 30 and home owners with load up to one kilowatt will get a 100% fee discount (delay payment penalty) in the first phase. On the other hand, home owners with loads more than one kilowatt will be eligible for a 90% fee discount. Customers in the commercial, private, and industrial sectors will also be eligible for discounts ranging from 50% to 80%.

Consumers are receiving huge discounts under this one-time settlement plan for the first time, even in cases of electricity theft. In case of theft, the customer will get a discount from depositing up to 65% of the total if he/she makes a one-time payment by submitting 10% of the registration price by November 30. Three Stages And Conditions Of One Time Settlement Scheme

First phase: From 08 to 30 November – Maximum discount
Second phase: 01 to 15 December
Third phase: 16 to 31 December
Fourth phase: 1 January 2024 to February 2024

1. Under the scheme, along with one time payment, domestic consumers with more than one kilowatt load have been given two options of payment in installments.
2. If you pay all your dues by November 30th, you will receive a 90% discount; if you pay it in three instalments then you will get an 80% discount; and if you pay it in six instalments then you will get 70% discount.
3. From December 1 to December 15, there will be an 80% discount on full payment, a 70% discount on payments made in three instalments, and a 60% discount on payments made in six instalments.
4. After December 16, there will be discounts of 70% on full payment, 60% on payments made in three instalments, and 50% on payments made in six instalments.
5. Similarly, by November 30, commercial consumers with loads up to three kilowatts will receive an 80% discount on full payment and a 70% discount on payments made in three installments. There will be a 10% less discount on payment for both option in the upcoming phases.
6. By November 30, commercial consumers who have loads more than three kilowatts get a discount of 60% when they pay in full and 50% when they pay in three installments.
7. If private business institutions and industrial consumers pay their bills in full before November 30th, they will receive a 50% discount; if they pay in three installments, they will receive a 40% discount. There will be a 10% less discount on payment for both option in the upcoming phases.
8. In the case of 12 installments, a maximum of 3 defaults (not deposited on the due date) will be allowed if the installments are not deposited within the allotted time. It is not allowed for a customer to have two continuous defaults. Similarly, if there are six installments, only one default is allowed; if there are less than six, no default will be allowed.
9. Consumers who use private tube wells will not be charged an extra fee until March 31, 2023, and eligible consumers won’t be charged a surcharge until October 31, 2023.
