What is Chakshu Portal?

Chakshu Portal was introduced by the Telecom Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw. This portal was launched with the aim of making it easier to stop mobile phone based scams. Citizens can report suspected or unauthorized messages through calls, SMS, or WhatsApp on this Portal. This technology is expected to successfully stop fraud and misuse of the communication system. A few examples of communications that could be fraudulent are those related to bank accounts, payment wallets, SIM cards, gas and electricity connections, KYC updates, expirations, and deactivations, sextortion, and pretending to be family members or government officials, etc.

Chakshu Portal makes it easier to report suspicious communications and encourages the re-verification of reported numbers through its association with the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) Sanchar Saathi Portal. The appropriate number will be disconnected if the re-verification is failed. The DoT promised to keep the usernames and personal information of those who report suspicious numbers and those who are the source of the information private and will not be shared it with third parties.
